Barbecue Cooking Tips

Some people think that there is only one way to cook a barbecue. In reality, there are many ways to do it so that this can be a great experience every time family or friends come over for a party.

· One thing people forget to do every time the griller is used afterwards is to clean it. If this is not properly maintained, grease can clog the gas ports and short out the igniter’s flame. This will make it difficult to warm up, prolong the cooking process and even burn the food being barbecued.

· If the person doesn’t have time to clean the grill, the alternative will be to coat the grill with a non-stick spray. This will reduce the grease building up and keeping the spices used on the food and not on the machine.

· There is a reason why tongs are used in handling meat and not forks or the hand. When the fork is pierced, it takes away the juice that was used in marinating causing the slab to be burned. The hand should not be used for the more obvious reason of not getting burnt.

The use of tongs helps the cook turn it over from one side to the other and leaves more flavoring when this is cut and eaten by those in the table.

· When meat is cooked in the griller, people will notice that there isn’t that much taste when this touches the person’s taste buds. Though there are steak sauces, mustard or ketchup that can be placed after, nothing is better than marinating it and using the same spices to give it the desired taste.

Marinating should be done a few minutes to two hours before it is cooked in the griller. While waiting for time to pass, this can first be placed in the freezer so that it is able to give it that much-added flavoring.

· Aside from mixing a little wine and vegetables for marinating, people who want to stay healthy can use herbs instead for flavoring. This is better know as rub that is a combination of wet and dry herbs, peppers, seasonings and spices.

Cooking doesn’t always have to be done by a gas-powered griller. If the person wants do this in a healthy manner, this can be smoked using charcoal. The only drawback is that the cooking time is longer and the meat is prepared over a low temperature.

The upside is that it has been known to make the meat more juicy and succulent. Another way to do this is buying wood chips instead of charcoal, which can add a special scent when it is served to the guests.

· A balanced meal should also have its share of vegetables. This can be chopped then grilled with a little touch of spices.

· A barbecue doesn’t always have to be all meat. A good way to be healthy will be to add variety such as serving poultry or fish. Another way, which will take more time to prepare, is stuffing just like how some people eat this in restaurants and parties.

The cook should use some toothpicks and string to keep it together so that it wouldn’t fall apart before the guests have a chance to dig in.

Barbecuing can be both tasty and healthy. The person should read up on the different recipes and try this whenever there is time.
