Tips for Cooking Beef
In the past 10 years, many have decide to stay away from beef because studies have shown
that it can harden arteries and cause heart disease.
By knowing which part to buy and knowing how to cook it, you can get the right amount of iron, protein and vitamin B12 that beef can give.
Below are a few tips about cooking beef.
1. Before cooking, make sure that each portion has been cut to equal size so that each piece will be cooking at the same rate.
2. Since it is virtually impossible to remove all the fat when buying beef from the grocery. All the individual can do is get the one that doesn’t have that much and cut this before it is cooked.
If you are making sloppy Joe’s or spaghetti, this should first be rinsed in a strainer for a couple of minutes to take away the excess fat.
3. You can save a fortune by getting the cheaper cuts of beef and still have a great meal by braising, poaching, simmering or stewing.
The appliances in the house that can do this are slow and pressure cookers, which may take the whole day or night before this is finished. The lid must be closed during this time and stirred from time to time to check on the beef.
4. You do not have to consume all the joint in one meal. The excess should be stored in plastic bags and sealed properly and frozen.
5. Aged beef should be left first in the kitchen until it achieves room temperature. This should be rubbed with cooking oil and baked at 225 to 250 degrees to tenderize it.
6. There are also various cooking methods apart from frying which makes it safe to eat. There is baking, boiling, broiling, grilling and roasting.
Choose the type of pans that can make this happen evenly without scorching.
Browning is one method to give the beef the rich color and flavor that people want when eating beef. The individual can do this by drying it with a paper towel before cooking.
If the individual has difficulty knowing when it is cooked already, it will be a good idea to have a thermometer around to be able to get an accurate reading. If it hits 125 degrees, the cook will just have to wait a few more minutes before putting this on the serving dish.
