This Is No Normal Cake – The Filling Is Fantastic!

Carrot cake is without a doubt one of the best cakes in the world. But it's when you combine sweet and spiced carrot cake with rich chocolate cake that sparks really start to fly, which is exactly what's happening in this recipe! And because we all know that you eat with your eyes first, we wanted this cake to stand out both visually and in terms of flavor. We're using a literal carrot and stick approach by filling waffle cones with carrot cake batter and sticking them into a loaf pan filled with chocolate cake batter. You won't believe the beautiful end result!

*Ingredients:*

_For the chocolate cake:_

- 10 eggs
- 1¾ cups sugar
- 2 cups cocoa powder
- 3 cups flour
- 2¾ cups ground hazelnuts
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 sticks butter, softened
- 1 chocolate bar, grated

_For the carrot cake:_

- 2 eggs
- 4 medium carrots, grated
- zest & juice of 1 orange
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 1 cup ground almonds
- ⅓ cup flour
- ⅓ cup corn starch
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ stick butter, melted

_For the chocolate ganache:_

- 1¼ cups heavy cream
- 24 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

_Extra:_

- 5 waffle cones
- 5 wooden skewers
- cookie crumbs to garnish
- fresh mint to garnish
