Tips on Using A Gas Griller for Cooking
There was a time that people used charcoal to cook food. This made people wait a long time before the food was ready but when someone invented a machine that was powered by gas, it revolutionarized barbecuing.
The price of a barbecue grill can vary between $200 and $3,000. Regardless of the brand or price, here are a few tips people should know to make sure this is in excellent condition each time it is used.
1. The barbecue grill just like the car should undergo maintenance. This doesn’t have to be brought to the manufacturer but can be done at home. The person can use a piece of cloth to wipe greases that usually build up after it is used.
Those who fail to do so will notice that it will takes some time before it is able to warm or the fire to ignite even when the gas has been turned on. This will also prolong the cooking process that probably took 30 minutes to an hour.
2. If the individual doesn’t have enough time to clean it, another way to keep it in good condition will be used to a non-stick spray. This can be found in the hardware store and is designed to reduce grease buildup and keep the spices on the food and not on the appliance.
3. The grill surface is usually made of stainless steel. People will notice that the color will change to black over time. To prevent food from sticking on the surface, which can also be tasted after putting something else, it is advisable to rub this a paper towel dipped in olive oil.
If this doesn’t work, aluminum foil can also be used. The person should put a sheet on the grill surface, set the controls to high and leave this for 25 minutes with the lid closed. When the time is up, the individual will notice that this turned into a white powder that can be brushed or wiped off.
4. In order to save on gas when meat is being cooked, some people use aluminum foil. This acts as a drip pan and as a heat deflector. This keeps the food wrapped inside it juicy and tender.
5. It sometimes happen that while cooking, small chunks of vegetables or meat fall into the flames. This can be prevented by putting a grate on top acting as a shield, which can be removed and cleaned again for future use.
6. The nice thing about the gas griller is that the person will be able to control how the food is being cooked. The owner then should read the manual and the cook books so that whatever is inside is not raw or burned.
As a general rule, high should only be used for preheating and cleaning. Medium is only for searing, broiling or quick cooking. Low is pretty much for everything and is used quite often to give it that smoke flavor.
7. The individual must use a set of tongs each time. This is for safety and for keeping the food tasty with the juices still inside.
The griller can be used as often as the owner wants. This should be properly maintained so this can last for five years or longer before its time to buy a new one.
